  • The Spring Trap is a single-targeting trap that bounces enemy ground units off the battlefield and deals heavy damage and stuns for a while to those that exceed its housing space, effectively instantly destroying them if they are less or equal to its housing space capacity of if the target's hitpoints are low enough. Each Spring Trap can bounce off only a single unit, but upgrading it increases the damage, which also allows it to fling that unit if they have too little health. It also prioritizes the unit with the highest housing space if there are more than two units that are in its trigger radius. The housing space capacity of the Spring Trap will increase by 2 for the first 4 upgrades, but will not gain any further capacity once it is at level 5 or above.

  • Like other traps, the Spring Trap requires re-arming after it has been activated. Doing so is free and occurs automatically once the player logs into the game.
  • If a unit that exceeds the Spring Trap's spring capacity triggers it, the unit cannot be flung off the map and the Spring Trap will instead launch the unit upwards, stun them and take damage. The Spring Trap's damage is reduced by half on Heroes , Pets , or Siege Machines . Siege Machines cannot be launched in the air. If larger troops take fatal damage, they will be launched off of the map like a smaller troop would. Heroes do not get sprung off the map if defeated in this way.

  • The Spring Trap has a short activation delay. Units with a movement speed of 32 or above, such as the Goblin , can move across it unaffected unless they stop on top of the trap. Units that are slightly slower, such as an Archer , can also avoid the trap by simply passing over a corner of the Spring Trap's tile.
  • If put in a strategical way, Spring Traps can ruin a raid by damaging some heavy-unit troops, such as Root Riders , P.E.K.K.As , and Electro Titans , significantly reducing their potential DPS.
  • Spring Traps can be placed near or around the Town Hall , so you can get rid of a high-damage Troop closing in.
  • A sound strategy for Spring Traps is to place them in an intentionally-designed Wall gap. As troops will generally tend to go through the gap rather than fight their way through the Wall, they will be directed right over the Spring Trap and be bounced to their death. Remember, Spring Traps are one-time-use and until being re-armed it will leave an undefended gap in the Wall after an attacker has triggered it. A modified version of this strategy is to place Walls inside your base so that the enemy Troops have to walk over the Spring Trap to attack nearby buildings.
  • A modified version of this strategy is to place Walls inside your base so that the enemy Troops have to walk over the Spring Trap to attack nearby buildings.
  • You can also place them in front of commonly-targeted Walls to stop Wall Breakers from breaking them, forcing the attacker to deploy a second wave if they have one or be disadvantaged in the attack. However, this may fail to deter Super Wall Breakers , as the Spring Trap will instead instantly trigger its Mega Bomb ability.
  • You can place them in between Defensive Buildings to take out a defense-targeting troop with high hitpoints.
  • Some Spring Trap capacity upgrades are better than others, even though each upgrade adds the same amount to its maximum capacity, up to level 5. Upgrading the Spring Trap to level 4, for example, enables the Spring Trap to launch an Ice Golem or a Druid , more than at the previous level. This contrasts with upgrading it to level 2, which does not majorly change its interactions with ground units (only really springing off a Super Archer or similar troops).
  • Troops with abilities that activate on their destruction can still activate these abilities when getting bounced off a Spring Trap. For example, if an Ice Golem is launched, he still freezes nearby structures and enemy troops since he was technically defeated on the spot.
  • The Spring Trap can be used to stun Heroes and slightly damage them, especially the Royal Champion , since the short stun time will force the attacker to use more spells than normal in a Champion Charge, thus reducing the value they can get.

  • If you suspect that a certain location (such as a gap in the Wall ) has a Spring Trap, try to trigger the trap by using a single expendable troop like a Barbarian or a Goblin, as high housing-space units such as ground units like P.E.K.K.As , Golems , Root Riders , Heroes , Siege Machines and/or Pets will take massive amounts of damage from it, although it is limited to one. You can also use a small unit to protect a larger unit with low hitpoints from being flung off the map.
  • The Spring Trap undergoes significant visual changes at every odd level. When first constructed and at level 2, the Spring Trap consists of a square wooden plank and a brass spring, with one end of the spring attached to a wooden disc (which is fixed to the ground by nails) and the other fixed to the plank, held by latches which hold the trap underground during a defense. When triggered, the Spring Trap unlatches from the ground, flinging a nearby ground unit instantly and out of the map, so long as its housing space is equal to or less than its maximum spring capacity. The large spring can also launch the unit high up in the air if the targeted unit exceeds the housing space capacity and can even fling them off the map if its hitpoints are low enough. At levels 3 & 4, the Spring Trap's spring becomes a lot thicker, as well as the wood. At levels 5 & 6, the Spring Trap now has encased metal reinforcements on the edges. At levels 7 & 8, the Spring Trip's spring is now much thicker than before, and the metal reinforcements on the edges become shinier and sturdier and gain rivets. At levels 9 & 10, the corners of the metal square gain some gold plating. At levels 11 & 12, the metal square casing fully becomes gold. At level 13, the wooden plank is now replaced with a metal one. The corners of the square casing also turn metal and its rivets are now gold.

  • Despite the Spring Trap dealing damage to a Troop , troops that bounced away from it will neither make upon-death skulls nor tombstones. Under the Eternal Tome of the Grand Warden , smaller troops are not immune to Spring Traps, and in case of high-hitpoint units, they will only get stunned and will not be damaged.

  • If you look carefully, the Spring Trap's range actually extends outside its sprite just enough to see the range circle.
  • When the Arabic language was first introduced into the game, the trap was translated literally as “Fakh Al-Rabi,” where “Rabi” refers to one of the four seasons (spring). However, this translation was later corrected to “Fakh Al-Zanbarak,” which refers to a “spring-loaded trap,” describing the mechanism more accurately. The initial confusion arose because “Rabi” also means “spring” as in the season, not the spring mechanism used in the trap.
  • Since the October 6, 2025 update, Spring Traps now deal damage, which means that there are new interactions between troops. If a unit with more housing space has a low enough health, they will get flung from the map, even ground troops with the most housing space will be tossed. This includes Heroes and Pets. In the case of Heroes, when a Hero is defeated, they will stay in place where they were defeated by a Spring Trap. For Pets, however, they will be tossed of the map as normal, but their 3D model will spiral in a weird way (see Gallery).

  • Before the October 6, 2025 update which made it gain an additional 7 levels, the Spring Trap and Skeleton Trap were the only Home Village traps to be maxed out early in Town Hall 10.
  • Excluding Walls , you can place down 9 Spring Traps in the Home Village, which is the most of one structure/trap allowed.
  • The Spring Trap is currently the only trap in the game that can fully destroy a Druid and prevent him from transforming into a Bear .
