  • The Baby Dragon is the eleventh Elixir Troop unlocked in the Barracks once it has been upgraded to level 11, which requires Town Hall level 9. He is a fearsome flying unit and is capable of attacking both ground and air units with splash damage.
  • He is essentially a smaller and weaker version of the Dragon , but possesses a much faster attack speed (once his Tantrum ability is active) and takes up less housing space in Army Camps .
  • When no allied aerial units are within 4.5 tiles from the Baby Dragon, his Tantrum ability becomes active, increasing his attack rate and doubling his damage, though, his movement speed still remains the same.
  • Baby Dragons have no preferred target when attacking; they will simply attack the closest building . However, if they become aware of enemy Clan Castle troops , Heroes , or Skeleton Trap skeletons (either by being attacked themselves or by being near another friendly troop under attack), and can fight back against them, they will leave their previously targeted building and instead engage the enemy troops. Once all of the nearby enemy troops are defeated, the Baby Dragons will proceed to attack the nearest structure.
  • The Baby Dragon could be considered more versatile than the Dragon . He has half the housing space, a bit less than half the health, and about 40% of the DPS normally, but he inflicts much more damage when enraged. An enraged Baby Dragon has about 120% of the DPS of a Dragon (assuming both are max level for a given Laboratory level). An attack using Baby Dragons would be less vulnerable to Seeking Air Mines , since it will only destroy 10 housing space of troops , compared to the Dragon which occupies 20 housing space. However, since the quantity of troops have increased, a horde of Baby Dragons would be more vulnerable to splash damage, such as Wizard Towers , Scattershots and Air Bombs , since there are more individual units compared to the lower quantity but more durable Dragons. However, one could bring in Healing Spells to mitigate the splash damage or Rage Spells to help destroy the splash damaging defenses faster.

  • Baby Dragons are especially good at funneling and destroying outer buildings to guide troops into the center of the base. They have relatively high health and can deal a lot of damage in their tantrums. If you intend to funnel with Baby Dragons, you can consider bringing a Balloon (and/or if available, the Ice Minion ) to check and tank Seeking Air Mines which will take out the Baby Dragon prematurely. Also consider the location of Air Defenses ; if they cover the edge, it can quickly kill the Baby Dragon. They can also take out certain areas with only ground defenses and little air coverage such as an area with an exposed Mortar and a few collectors. The damage of the baby dragon means that it will take it out quickly, and potentially funneling in your main army as well.

  • Baby Dragons are excellent farming troops since they deal high damage and have decent health. They can destroy outside collectors fast with their "enraged" ability. However, Air Defenses can cut them down, so it is recommended to have some sort of initial phase to deal with one or two of them. For example, one can use Lightning Spells and Earthquake Spells or the Giant Arrow to destroy the Air Defenses.
  • They can take on and defeat low-level defending Archer Queens by themselves which makes them a good choice to deal with the Queen if she is easily reachable. However, nearby defenses can turn the tide in the defending Archer Queen's favor. If possible, zap the Archer Queen with the Air Defense. Keep in mind though, that Earthquake spells do no damage to troops.
  • Baby Dragons are a common troop found in low-level Clan Castles , especially in Clan Wars . Placing a Dragon, Electro Dragon or your Barbarian King and a bunch of Wizards will quickly kill the Baby Dragon before he does significant damage to your troops.
  • At lower Town Hall levels, the lack of effective air targeting defenses makes them a formidable threat. Therefore, it is a good idea to bring one in your Clan Castle and drop them directly on those defenses to make them untargetable from the rest of the base. From Town Hall 4 up to Town Hall 6, an alternative is to use a ground army to destroy all air targeting defenses. After all of them have been destroyed, you can freely drop the Baby Dragon from the Clan Castle to clean up anything remaining.

  • Baby Dragons are quite powerful air troops , and as such it can be difficult to defend against them. Multiple high-level Air Defenses are critical for success against Baby Dragons.
  • Baby Dragons are wonderful Clan Castle troops . As a flying unit , the Baby Dragon is completely immune to attacks from most ground troops , and his splash damage capability makes him especially suited for destroying groups of Barbarians and Goblins . To make use of the rage ability, a player can simply request just one Baby Dragon and fill the castle with ground troops. Note that Skeleton Traps set to air mode will also take away his rage ability, so place them away from his path.

  • Seeking Air Mines can one-shot Baby Dragons of relative level. Place them near Air Defenses to make sure they do not get destroyed.
  • Baby Dragons need to be alone in order for them to have their rage mechanic active. An Air Sweeper can clump them up and remove their advantage, rendering their ability useless.
  • Initially, he appears as a small lime green Dragon with the spikes and tips of his wings being persimmon. His hands and feet are copper in color that fades back into the body, and his tongue is red. At level 3, the Baby Dragon's wings turn amber. At level 4, the Baby Dragon's wings turn into a magenta-orange gradient and his tongue also turns magenta. At level 5, the Baby Dragon gains golden bracelets on each wrist. At level 6, the Baby Dragon's wings turn blue and his tongue turns purple. At level 7, the Baby Dragon's bracelets gain icy blue ornaments. His wings also become slightly lighter in shades of blue. At level 8, the Baby Dragon's bracelets grow larger and turn completely gold, and his legs get a golden accent. His hind legs also receive golden coating of armor. At level 9, The Baby Dragon's bracelets shrink and have gold edges with light periwinkle in the middle. His wings and tongue also become light periwinkle. He also gains two shoulder guards golden shoulder pads and a mahogany 'saddle' or armor plate on his back. At level 10, the Baby Dragon's wings and tongue turn into pastel lemon. Red bands appear on his bracelets; his shoulder pads get wider; the saddle gets slightly smaller, and his tail is now on fire. At level 11, the wings, horns and tongue turn golden in color. His bracelets change their appearance similar when he was level 8, but shorter, and the red band disappears. The shoulder guards also disappear.

  • The Baby Dragon's hands and feet are brown in the info image but are not in battle.
  • The Baby Dragon's upon-death skeleton is human-shaped, similar to the other troops .

  • The Baby Dragon's gender has been confirmed as a male, as the Clash Royale Baby Dragon commercial referred to the Baby Dragon as "he".
  • When the Baby Dragon disappears upon death or at the end of a battle, he explodes into Dark Elixir , even though he is an Elixir troop. This is also the case with the Ice Golem and the Witch who are both Dark Elixir troops but explode into Elixir upon death or when the battle ends.

  • The Baby Dragon was one of the only troop (s) in the game that did not have upgrade differences. This trait was previously used with the Witch, before the Town Hall 11 Update . At one point, when you upgraded the Baby Dragon to level 3, his wings did not change color at all. With the October 2016 update, Levels 3 & 4 were given pink wings (Level 4 shares the same pink wings of level 5 Baby Dragons).
