  • The Lavaloon is a troop summoned by the Lavaloon Puppet .
  • The Lavaloon combines aspects of the Balloon and Lava Hound . Like Lava Hounds, the Lavaloon preferentially targets Air Defenses ; in attacking, the Lavaloon releases its bombs on its way to its target, similar to a Battle Blimp . Each bomb does moderately high damage per hit and spawns a Lavaloon Pup . When defeated, the Lavaloon explodes, dealing high area damage, and releases a few Lavaloon Pups depending on its level.
  • The Lavaloon cannot be upgraded in the Laboratory . Instead, its level is determined by the level of Lavaloon Puppet.
  • Lavaloons prioritize Air Defenses above all other targets, and will bypass all other enemy buildings and troops while any Air Defenses remain on the battlefield. This is true even if they are under attack by enemy Clan Castle troops, Heroes or Skeleton Trap skeletons. Once all Air Defenses are destroyed, they will continue to attack any other remaining defenses . Note that like all troops that prioritize defenses, Lavaloons do not consider the Clan Castle to be a defense regardless of whether or not it contains enemy troops, but do consider the activated Town Hall weapon (if any) to be defensive buildings. Once all remaining defenses are destroyed, Lavaloons become like any other troop with no preferred target; they will attack the nearest building to them regardless of type, and will turn and attack enemy units if they become aware of any nearby and can fight back against them.
  • The Lavaloons summoned by the Lavaloon Puppet are slightly weaker than the temporary Lavaloons available in events, having approximately 10% less health, damage and death damage compared to a temporary Lavaloon of equal level, and spawning less Lavaloon Pups upon death. However, the Lavaloon Pups spawned by both versions are the same.
  • The Lavaloon is considered to take up 23 housing space for the purposes of its interactions with the Clone Spell and Recall Spell .
  • Much like the Lava Hounds, Lavaloons target Air Defenses and drops bombs which spawn a Lavaloon Pup each every few seconds. To get the best value, use Lightning Spells and/or other attacking units to destroy Air Defenses so that the Lavaloons will destroy defenses and the Lavaloon Pups will take out the non-defensive buildings, and eventually destroy the base. The Archer Queen 's Giant Arrow can be a useful ability to remove at least two Air Defenses, provided it is angled correctly. If possible, you can also destroy one or both Air Sweepers, giving you extra value.

  • In the case if there are any defending Clan Castle troops, use a Poison Spell to slow them down or take them out.
  • Lavaloons are weak to single-target damage, with traps such as Seeking Air Mines and defenses like single-target Inferno Towers . For the single-targeting defenses, use a Freeze Spell or an Overgrowth Spell to disable the defense, or use an Invisibility Spell to turn them invisible.

  • Defending against Lavaloons are quite tricky as they can distract Air Defenses to provide cover for other aerial units. The best way to prevent this is to spread them from other important defenses from other Air Defenses, so that the Lavaloons will be split away from the main army. However, this does not work if the attacker manages to destroy too many Air Defenses.
  • However, this does not work if the attacker manages to destroy too many Air Defenses.
  • Multi-target Inferno Towers and Multi-Archer Towers are very useful in warding off Lavaloon Pups, because they can target Lavaloon Pups independently of any shielding Lavaloons.
  • At Town Hall 15 and above, Poison Spell Towers are effective area denial tools against Lavaloon Pups.
  • Useful troops to include in a defending Clan Castle to oppose Lavaloons are Super Dragons and Electro Titans . A Super Dragon can deal strong damage to Lavaloons and his area damage can eliminate nearby Lavaloon Pups; an Electro Titan will outright wipe out any Lavaloon Pups that come near her due to her aura.
  • This troop name comes from an army strategy, the LavaLoon.
  • The Lavaloon is one of few temporary troops to later become a permanent troop. The other such troops are as follows: The Battle Ram and Skeleton Barrel both appear as troops in the Clan Capital . The Royal Ghost also makes permanent appearances, but is not usable as an attacking troop. He instead appears as part of "Royal Ghost traps", specially-modified Skeleton Traps that spawn Royal Ghosts instead of Skeletons. These Royal Ghost traps appear in the Single Player Campaign and in specific Attack Challenges .
