  • The Miner is the twelfth Elixir troop unlocked in the level 12 Barracks , which requires Town Hall level 10.
  • The Miner is a single-target troop that burrows underground when not engaged with enemy troops or buildings. This allows him to have the useful ability of not being affected by walls and bypassing all traps, but can still receive effects from spells.
  • Miners have no preferred target when attacking; they will simply attack the closest building . However, if they become aware of enemy Clan Castle troops , Heroes , or Skeleton Trap skeletons (either by being attacked themselves or by being near another friendly troop under attack), and can fight back against them, they will leave their previously targeted building and instead engage the enemy troops. Once all of the nearby enemy troops are defeated, the Miners will proceed to attack the nearest structure.
  • The Miner is similar to the Hog Rider before he would attack defenses; a troop that can bypass Walls that attacks anything. However, the Miner's mechanics are better as he is invincible when underground. However, at Town Halls 14 and above, Miners can get damaged and will also get destroyed from the Poison damage from the Town Hall's destruction.
  • However, at Town Halls 14 and above, Miners can get damaged and will also get destroyed from the Poison damage from the Town Hall's destruction.
  • Miners synergize well with Hog Riders, and the two types of troops can be combined together in a combination known as the Hybrid. The Miners can deal with defending Heroes and Skeleton Traps , while Hog Riders are more powerful against defenses because they prioritize defenses and have better DPS. If the Grand Warden and Royal Champion are unlocked, they can also be sent in with a hybrid attack to support the pack, as both these heroes are also able to bypass walls and can thus follow them easily. However, the combination has a weakness to aerial Clan Castle troops, as neither are able to target them. It can be useful to trigger and destroy the Clan Castle troops before attacking, if possible. Therefore, the Archer Queen and Healers will be used to take care of the Clan Castle troops. At Town Halls 13 and above, the Royal Champion can be very useful if there are any Clan Castle troops which the Queen Charge has not yet taken care of.

  • Miners can be used to trigger traps and lure out Clan Castle troops. They can also be used as a small distraction. E.g.: You are using a GoWiPe ( Golems , Wizards , and P.E.K.K.As ), but the Inferno Towers and Clan Castle troops are going to take out your Golems in seconds once in range. You can quickly place a Miner to pop up and distract the defenses .

  • The Miner cannot be placed anywhere on the map, unlike his Clash Royale counterpart . He must be placed outside the red area like any other unit.
  • Miners in large numbers are great for attacking bases with Inferno Towers that are set to single-target mode as each time the Miners burrow underground the Inferno Towers have to heat up again.
  • Take advantage of the Miners' ability to burrow underground. The more Miners you have, the quicker they will destroy the buildings or troops they were targeting, allowing them to go back underground quickly. This gives the defenses less time to target them and can be assisted by Rage Spells to increase their damage or Healing Spells to keep them at full health when Miners are attacking super-high HP buildings like storages. It is advisable to have enough Miners in a squad that they one-shot any building they come into contact with, except for super-high HP buildings like Storages , Town Hall, and Eagle Artillery . However, other troops behind will be vulnerable to be taken out by defenses, especially those with splash damage, so be careful!

  • Miners are vulnerable when they are spread out, in small numbers, or attacking high HP buildings because they have relatively low damage and HP.
  • Miners are useful when they are in the middle of the base. Trim off outside buildings with other troops like Bowlers and your Heroes to keep them in the middle.
  • Miners also cannot be pulled by the Tornado Trap , so he is a good troop to trigger this trap without being pulled by it.

  • Miners also cannot be pulled by the Tornado Trap , so he is a good troop to trigger this trap without being pulled by it.
  • Miners are decently tanky Clan Castle troops that deal decent damage, but they do not burrow underground when defending. Instead, they move above ground at a reduced pace. Combined with their relatively slow hit speed, this means that swarming a defensive Miner with massed troops can be helpful.
  • Since Miners do not trigger Traps while burrowing, you will need to place Traps near a building so that they will be triggered when the Miners pop up.
  • You can keep your base compact and your storages close to your defenses to combat Miners. By doing this, you are giving the Miners less time to be healed while they are traveling underground, helping your defenses do the maximum amount of damage while they are above ground and keeping them above ground for longer periods of time when they attack the storages.
  • Skeleton Traps set to ground and massed defensive Clan Castle troops (such as massed Archers ) can stall the Miners for some time, as they have a slow attack rate. It is possible that the Miners may burrow underground for only a short distance to continue attacking these distractions, taking more time than necessary.
  • Giant Bombs can deal significant damage to Miners and can surprise the opponent. However, since Miners only trigger traps when above ground, they cannot be damaged when underground, place them right next to a defense in the direction of another defense so the Miners can trigger them.
  • Initially, the Miner is a man with a red shirt, a brown backpack filled with gold and rocks, a dark gray hard hat with a melting candle on it, and wears a brown leather belt around his waist with a golden handle in the center. He wields a large metal shovel.
  • At level 3, the Miner's shovel is made of brass instead of metal.
  • At level 5, the Miner's light source changes from a candle to a headlight.
  • At level 7, the Miner's helmet becomes gold-colored, the headlight becomes slightly bigger. The shovel also appears to be cleaner and slightly darker and has a metal handle.
  • At level 8, the Miner's shovel is made of purple metal instead of brass, and the handle turns into brass.
  • At level 9, the handle of the shovel glows white. The Miner's headlight becomes triangular with a white light and a purple rim. The studs on the helmet change from gray to purple.
  • At level 10, the triangle on his helmet gets replaced by a leaf symbol with golden outlines. His shirt becomes green, his shovel becomes brass again while his helmet is given a more golden appearance, as well as the studs on it also turn gold, and a small tree branch with a single leaf is attached to his backpack.
  • At level 11, the Miner's shirt and helmet revert back to their original color, his shovel becomes more defined and shinier, and his helmet gains a pentagonal symbol with a bright yellow glow which replaces the leaf symbol. The tree branch on his backpack is also removed, and the rocks inside his backpack also turn gold.
  • At level 12, the Miner now wears a sky blue shirt, his helmet gains a pair of goggles on the front and a glowing, blue-white triangle on top, replacing the pentagonal symbol. He carries a bunch of meteor shells in his backpack that glow blue. He also wields a large pickaxe, replacing his shovel.

  • Increased the hitpoints at level 2 to 4.
  • The upgrade costs and times were reduced at all levels.
  • The level 3 Miner's Laboratory requirement was moved down to level 8 (allowing Town Hall 10 players to get them).

  • You can have a maximum of 56 Miners at one time in a complete set of fully upgraded Army Camps . This number increases to 65 if you include 9 that can fit into a level 13 or higher Clan Castle . On the battlefield, you can clone an additional 28 Miners with four fully upgraded Clone Spells (three from the regular spell inventory and one from a level 10 or higher Clan Castle). These total to a maximum of 93 Miners. When the Miner's housing spaces was increased from 5 to 6, it was possible for Army Camps and Clan Castles to overflow, or to hold more housing spaces than they would be able to fit, resulting in 288 out of 240 Army Camp capacity, and 42 out of 35 Clan Castle capacity respectively.

  • The Miner and the Ice Golem are the only troops that have visual changes every 2 levels, as most of the Troops do not have much of a visual change.
  • The Miner is one of the several troops not to have Builder Base or Super Troop counterparts, along with the Healer , Electro Dragon , Yeti , Dragon Rider , Golem , Ice Golem , and Headhunter .
  • He is one of the two troops to have different stats when used defensively rather than offensively, the other being the Ice Golem (the Ice Golem's death freeze radius is smaller on defense and lasts shorter). In this case, the defensive Miners do not move underground and instead walk at a slower pace.

  • The Miner, Super Miner , Diggy , and the Battle Drill are currently the only units that do not trigger any traps while moving, because of them going underground in battle.
