Sneaky Goblin - Army Troop Units in Clash of Clans

Clan Badge

"Sneaky Goblins have a talent going unnoticed for a while after being deployed. It's usually the incredibly loud sound of resources being pilfered that gives them away."

  • The Sneaky Goblin is a Super Troop based on the Goblin . It can be unlocked by boosting the Goblin when the Goblin is at least level 7, and when the Town Hall is upgraded to level 11 or higher.
  • Boosting the Goblin requires 25,000 Dark Elixir or a Super Potion , and doing so allows the Goblin to be boosted for 3 days. The level of Sneaky Goblin you obtain from the boost corresponds to the level of Goblin you have.
  • Because of the Town Hall requirement, players require Town Hall 11 to boost Goblins into Sneaky Goblins, although the level requirement can be achieved before Town Hall 11. However, because of the Laboratory level cap, players require a level 4 Clan Castle or greater in order to get donated one, allowing anyone Town Hall 8 or above to get one.
  • The Sneaky Goblin is the Super Troop version of the Goblin that does more damage and has more hitpoints. His Cloak ability enables him to remain invisible for 5 seconds after he is deployed much like the Sneaky Archer .
  • Sneaky Goblins prioritize resource buildings above all other targets, and will bypass all other types of enemy buildings and troops while any resource buildings remain on the battlefield. This is true even if they are under attack by enemy Clan Castle troops, Heroes or Skeleton Trap skeletons. Note that like all troops that prioritize resources, Sneaky Goblins consider the Clan Castle and the Town Hall to be resource buildings regardless of whether or not they contain loot and whether or not the Town Hall's weapon (if any) is activated; Sneaky Goblins will preferentially target them, and damage bonuses on resource buildings will also apply. Once all resource buildings are destroyed, Sneaky Goblins become like any other troop with no preferred target; they will attack the nearest building to them regardless of type, and will turn and attack enemy units if they become aware of any nearby and can fight back against them.
  • Sneaky Goblins are useful for targeting bases that prioritize defending their Town Hall rather than their collectors and storages.
  • You can sneak a Battle Blimp full of them to the Town Hall and quickly obliterate the Town Hall while the Sneaky Goblins are invisible. Pair this up with the Grand Warden , his Eternal Tome ability and a Rage Spell , and this will assure a one-star and lots of loot depending on where the storages are. The strategy is especially valuable against Town Halls 13 and above, when its destruction may leave devastating after-effects that can wipe out or significantly cripple the rest of your army were they to destroy the Town Hall themselves. However, Tornado Traps , Giant Bombs , as well as the Blimp could be destroyed early could all result in no damage done, or the Town Hall not fully destroyed, which can be detrimental for the rest of your attack.

  • As a result of their high damage against resource buildings (which is the highest per housing space in the game), they are viable as funneling troops in the right situations. Because of their invisibility, a single Sneaky Goblin is often sufficient to destroy an exposed Gold Mine or Elixir Collector , and two or three are more than enough to take out an exposed resource storage.
  • They form a good alternative to regular Goblins when farming loot; their higher health allows them to survive slightly longer (for instance, they are able to survive a single hit from a Mortar ). Their increased health can be a reason to use them over regular Goblins even in the core of a base (when their invisibility would have worn off) because unlike regular Goblins they will not be wiped out as easily by splash damage, especially when boosted by the Life Gem . This makes Goblin-Knife strategies (where hordes of Goblins are sent into the core of a base supported by spells) more consistent in their ability to attack the core of higher-level bases. Jump Spells work well with Sneaky Goblins to reach compartments protected by Walls ; using them to reach a compartment with a resource storage or two (or the Town Hall) can prove profitable. Wall Breakers , although cheaper than Jump Spells, are less viable as an alternative due to the Sneaky Goblins' invisibility preventing them from making an effective tank for the Wall Breakers (also, the Sneaky Goblins are relatively fragile once the cloak wears off), but this problem can nonetheless be alleviated with a Giant or similar. Super Wall Breakers can also help to a much greater extent by breaking walls of relative levels, allowing the Sneaky Goblins to easily get to the storages with or without the Haste Spell . Haste Spells can allow the Sneaky Goblins to reach deeper into a base faster and take advantage of the cloak ability while they have it.

  • Clan Castles do not react to Sneaky Goblins in its radius while they are invisible, and will only deploy their troops when another (visible) troop is deployed in its radius or when the invisibility of the Sneaky Goblins wear off. As Sneaky Goblins consider the Clan Castle to be a resource building, you can exploit this property against exposed Clan Castles by deploying a few Sneaky Goblins to quickly destroy the Clan Castle before it can deploy any troops.
  • Sneaky Goblins' cloak effect will be duplicated with Clone Spell deployments at full duration, regardless if the cloned goblin is still invisible.
  • Sneaking them in, and then putting a tank in front of them (e.g. a Giant ) if still unfinished can be a cheap but effective funnel if a part of the base is mostly resource storages. 5 or so Sneaky Goblins can even take down a Town Hall before their invisibility wears off, given that there are no traps and the Town Hall is on the outside.

  • Giant Bombs when sufficiently leveled, are capable of wiping out Sneaky Goblins in one blow, so place these around locations where Sneaky Goblins are expected. They can be placed near the Town Hall to take out any Sneaky Goblins that spawn from Battle Blimps . If space does not allow for Giant Bombs, multiple high-level Bombs (preferably level 9 or higher) or Spring Traps lining the Town Hall can work as a substitute. If available, a Giga Bomb is able to wipe out Sneaky Goblins, especially when you are trying to protect the Town Hall from being destroyed. Do take note however, as the Giga Bomb may not activate if there are less than 6 Sneaky Goblins.

  • Putting resource storages near the Town Hall both protects your resources and can distract Sneaky Goblins from targeting the Town Hall. Storages have relatively high health, stalling the Sneaky Goblins and wasting their invisibility time.
  • Their low hitpoints mean they have the same weaknesses as other low-health troops like Barbarians , Wizards , Witches , or Bowlers . Multi-targeting Inferno Towers , Multi-Archer Towers , the Eagle Artillery or the Inferno Artillery , Scattershots , Firespitters , and the Multi-Gear Tower are all major counters to Sneaky Goblins, while basic splash defenses like Mortars and Wizard Towers will also work well, the Archer Tower and Cannon set to fast attack mode and burst mode respectively is also quite effective against Sneaky Goblins.
  • Sneaky Goblins are commonly used in war with Warden Walks, as the Warden has a relatively low damage output, which the Sneaky Goblin can make up for. Making bases that counter Warden Walks indirectly counter Sneaky Goblins.
  • You can place resource buildings behind other buildings such as the Builder's Hut , or Spell Factory , to slow the Sneaky Goblins down due to the no spawn zone around them.

  • You can have a maximum of 113 Sneaky Goblins at one time in a complete set of fully upgraded Army Camps . This number increases to 131 if you include 18 that can fit into a level 13 or higher Clan Castle . On the battlefield, you can clone an additional 56 Sneaky Goblins with four fully upgraded Clone Spells (three from the regular spell inventory and one from a level 10 or higher Clan Castle). These total to a maximum of 187 Sneaky Goblins.
  • The Sneaky Goblin bears a visual resemblance to the Goblin Brawler from Clash Royale , more notably his bulky appearance.
  • With the orange mask he gains, the Sneaky Goblin resembles Michelangelo from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.
  • The name of this Super Troop pays homage to the Gold Storage 's description since the game's global launch, "Don't let sneaky goblins anywhere near!".
  • In the artwork, the bag is darker than its patch. However, in battle, its patch is darker than the bag. Additionally, the hands in which the crowbar and bag are held are opposites between the two.
  • In the artwork, the Sneaky Goblin's mask and suspenders are darker. In battle, however, the Sneaky Goblin's mask and suspenders are brighter.
  • According to a sample by a Reddit user, the Sneaky Goblin is the second most boosted Super Troop (behind the Super Wall Breaker at first). [ 1 ]
