  • The Town Hall is the central building of the Home Village, and one of the most important buildings in the game.
  • Upgrading the Town Hall lets you unlock new buildings, Traps and Heroes , and upgrade them to higher levels. However, it carries the trade-off of reducing the loot available from opponents with lower-level Town Halls, as well as allows more loot to be taken by such opponents.
  • In Multiplayer Battles and all battles involving the Home Village, destruction of the Town Hall automatically awards the enemy one star and entitles the attacker to claim victory, regardless of damage on the rest of the village.
  • The Town Hall also serves as a resource storage of Gold, Elixir, and Dark Elixir (the latter only when the Town Hall is level 7 or above). Unlike other resource storages, the loot stored in the Town Hall can only be looted if it is destroyed. As a resource storage, it is immune to damage from Lightning Spells , but not from Earthquake Spells , unlike other storages.
  • As a resource storage, it is immune to damage from Lightning Spells , but not from Earthquake Spells , unlike other storages.
  • When upgraded to level 12 through 17, the Town Hall becomes weaponized, and gains the ability to defend itself, doubling as a potent defensive building capable of dealing high damage to multiple targets at once and quickly. At Town Hall 18, the Town Hall's weapon is removed in favor of defending them with Guardians .
  • Protecting the Town Hall is critical for achieving the player's objectives.
  • The Town Hall is the equivalent of the Builder Hall in the Builder Base or the Goblin Hall in the Single Player Campaign .
  • Since the change that players no longer gain a shield if the opponent destroyed their Town Hall, placing it outside a farming base serves no purpose anymore, other than to rapidly drop trophies . Players should aim to protect their Town Hall at all costs, as it contains 20% of all 3 different resources.
  • If one is designing bases to protect their trophies or war bases, they should aim to protect their Town Hall at all costs. If an attacker destroys your Town Hall, they will immediately receive one star. However, if they are unable to destroy it, they will still get a maximum of one star. This concept is, however, thrown away when you are trying to design an anti-3 star base, in which the Town Hall is considered just to be a high-hitpoint building and is used to protect key structures to prevent the attacker from claiming a third star (hence the name). At higher Town Hall levels (especially level 9 and above), players can, instead of protecting their Town Hall, use it as a high-hitpoint damage sponge — similar to Storages — as part of a strategy to prevent 3-star attacks from Dragons and other high-level armies, at the cost of making 2-star attacks much easier. Anti-3 star bases are used for war more commonly than they are as normal bases because getting the full 3 stars in war is more important.

  • Town Halls have the highest hitpoints of any relative level building, with the exception of Walls , which means they take a long time to destroy. Placing your Town Hall within the range of your most powerful defenses can give them the most shots to destroy enemy troops.
  • If maximizing builder time is a priority, as it is inefficient to wait until all of the building upgrades are finished before beginning to upgrade the Town Hall, as all but one of the builders will be idle for the duration of your Town Hall upgrade. In order to keep all builders occupied (but ensure they are all available when the Town Hall upgrade finishes), plan for the Town Hall upgrade to finish just as the remaining builders are finishing their final projects. For example, if you are currently at Town Hall level 9 and have five builders, you should upgrade your Town Hall (which takes 2 days and 12 hours) when the total remaining upgrading time of other buildings approaches 10 days.
  • Of note is that at higher Town Hall levels (8 or more), upgrades in the Laboratory will take significantly longer than building upgrades. If Laboratory upgrades are the only things remaining, one can consider upgrading the Town Hall early to prevent builder time being wasted (and avoid having to hold excess resources in storages for too long), while selecting only the Laboratory upgrades for units that the player uses most often.
  • Do not place the Town Hall in a corner surrounded by Walls, as troops can still be placed next to the Town Hall in the darker grass.
  • Placing all available buildings at a Town Hall level is required to upgrade the Town Hall. However, there are exceptions to this rule: The Clan Castle does not have to be rebuilt before being allowed to upgrade to the next Town Hall level, and the player can rebuild the Clan Castle whenever there are enough resources for it. All five Builder's Huts are not required before being allowed to upgrade to the next Town Hall level (because the Builder's Huts cost Gems as opposed to other buildings, requiring them would unfairly hinder progression for players who do not buy Gems); this also applies to weaponizing Builder's Huts by leveling them up when reaching Town Hall 14. When the player is upgrading to Town Hall 5/7* or above, players do not need to rebuild the boat (which can only be rebuilt at Town Hall 4/6* and above) in order to move on to the next Town Hall level. (*Builder Base can be unlocked at Town Hall 4 or 6 randomly for each account.) When upgrading to Town Hall 11 or above, players do not need to build the B.O.B's Hut (which is only available at Town Hall 10 and above due to the requirements in building it) in order to upgrade the Town Hall to those levels.

  • Besides placing all of the buildings, some other restrictions are placed when upgrading to the next Town Hall level: Town Halls 8 and above require the Hero Hall to be upgraded to the maximum level. Whenever a Hero Banner is available, it must be placed as well even though they do not count as buildings (as they used to be Hero Altars and let Heroes defend the village). Town Halls 17 and above require all merged defenses to be merged (similar to placing all buildings), which in turn requires the merging defenses to be maxed first. Currently, this applies to Cannons into Ricochet Cannons , Archer Towers into Multi-Archer Towers , the Eagle Artillery and the Giga Inferno into the Inferno Artillery , the Geared-Up Cannon and Archer Tower into Multi-Gear Tower , and Wizard Towers into Super Wizard Towers . Town Hall 18 requires the Town Hall 17 weapon to be upgraded to the maximum level.

  • Unlocked at Town Hall 12, the Giga Tesla is an addition to the Town Hall that allows it to defend itself when attacked. It can target multiple enemies and explode with high damage when destroyed.
  • The Giga Tesla will be activated once damaged by a troop or spell, or when the village has reached 51% destruction. It is not deployed by a troop moving into its range.
  • Troops that target defenses ( Giants , Balloons , Hog Riders etc.) will not prioritize the Town Hall 12 as a target until the Giga Tesla is activated.

  • Unlocked at Town Hall 13, the Giga Inferno is a direct upgrade that replaces the Giga Tesla with a continuously-firing Inferno Tower head while adding a slowdown effect is added to the death bomb. Everything else, like activation and defense targeting troops' behavior with the weapon, is exactly the same as the Giga Tesla.
  • The Giga Inferno continues into Town Halls 14 through 16 but with a different appearance. At Town Hall 14, the death bomb's slowdown effect is replaced with a poison effect, doing damage over time on top of the slowdown. Town Halls 15 and 16 improve the Giga Inferno's hitpoints, damage per second, and potency of the death bomb.

  • Unlocked at Town Hall 17, the Inferno Artillery replaces the Giga Inferno as the Town Hall's weapon. It requires the merging of Town Hall 16 with a level 7 Eagle Artillery to be constructed.
  • Instead of damaging multiple targets continuously, it now deals splash damage by shooting fireballs that create fiery pools on impact with the ground, which damages all enemies that stay within these areas. This allows the Inferno Artillery to affect more than four enemies it directly targets. It automatically triggers at the start of the battle unlike previous Town Hall weapons.
  • Unlike previous levels, the Inferno Artillery does not have a death bomb, which separated from the Town Hall as a Giga Bomb that knocks back troops.
  • Unlocked at Town Hall 18, Guardians are special defensive troops that patrol the area around the Town Hall. They replace the Inferno Artillery.
  • With the removal of the weapon at Town Hall 18, the Town Hall is no longer considered a defensive building at this level.
  • When players upgrade to Town Hall 4 or higher, they receive temporary boosts for a few days when logging in to the game after the upgrade is complete. These boosts are as follows:
